Aamir's Journey

Love shows up in the most random places, and when it hits, you will definitely know if it’s meant for you.

This is true for young Aamir Hayward, who fell in love with painting during one of his mother’s sip and painting events at their home.

At age 10, Aamir's drawing of a blue cat received third place recognition, at the National Art Gallery's annual school exhibition.

The picture now has a permanent residence in the Intellectual Property office of the Bermuda Government Administration Building.

This would be his first taste of entrepreneurship, as the picture was sent to 24/7 Ink print shop, where it was made into a Valentine's Day card and sold.

With the hunger and determination front and center, he won first prize at the Dolphin Quest Bermuda’s annual Student Stewardship Contest. This meant the drawing would be sent to Mexico for the inaugural, international portion of the contest, where an even bigger surprise awaited the youngster. He had also won first place in this competition as well.

His reward was an all expense paid trip to Mexico to receive his award.

All the success resulted in Aamir being featured in both local and overseas print and television news media.

Using his entrepreneur instincts, a post card was made of the award-winning picture, which was available for purchase at Hudge Pudge on Front Street, Hamilton.

Aside from the trip to Mexicos, Aamir's P6 class at Francis Patton Primary was afforded the opportunity to take a field trip to Dolphin Quest in Dockyard. He was joined by his mom, and after the class tour, they went swimming with the dolphins.

He love drawing landscapes with a twist, something that his mother instantly felt would be best suited on clothing. The thought was turned into reality when he picked a name for his business, Digitized, after being told that he needs to digitize his artwork.
